Blood Health
The "Blood Health" test package is a detailed blood analysis designed to evaluate various components and characteristics of your blood, which can give a broad picture of your overall health. It can identify a range of conditions, from anaemia and infection to haemoglobinopathies and disorders of iron metabolism. This package combines a full blood count with iron studies to assess the health and function of your blood.
FBC (Full Blood Count)
Checks red and white blood cells and platelets.
High/Low: May indicate anaemia, infection, or other blood disorders.
ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)
Detects inflammation in the body.
High: Suggests inflammation or infection.
Low: Generally not concerning.
Iron (TIBC included)
Measures iron levels and the body’s ability to transport it.
High: May suggest iron overload.
Low: Indicates potential iron-deficiency anaemia.
Ferritin
Indicates iron storage in the body.
High: Suggests inflammation or iron overload.
Low: Points to depleted iron reserves, indicating anaemia.
B12 (Active)
Assesses vitamin B12 levels needed for red blood cell production.
High: Rarely significant but may suggest liver or kidney issues.
Low: Indicates a deficiency, potentially causing anaemia or neurological symptoms.
Folate (RBC)
Measures folate stored in red blood cells, essential for healthy blood cell production.
High: Rarely concerning, but may result from over-supplementation.
Low: Suggests folate-deficiency anaemia.
